The most destructive element of DCC’s proposals is the construction of a new road across the estate to allow access to two large car parks. The estimated cost is £5m and it is intended to be sited adjacent to the beautiful Local Nature Reserve. ECAG is concerned that this would cause physical disturbance to the wildlife and pollute the very heart of the estate. The Country Park is a wonderful haven for wildlife and is popular with walkers, cyclists, joggers and horse riders who currently enjoy a safe, mainly traffic-free environment.
